Zach discovered his love of GIS in college while fulfilling a general education requirement. He began a GIS internship for local government while in college which allowed him to see the insights that GIS affords to decision makers. He describes GIS as a perfect mixture of right-brain and left-brain skills, allowing him to explore complex spatial analyses while at the same time focusing on an end product that is attractive for users. Currently he serves as Senior GIS Analyst for the County of Santa Clara's Planning and Development Department.

Steve has been an employee of Santa Clara County for over 20 years and has provided creative GIS solutions and analyses across of variety of disciplines while working in several departments including the Department of Planning and Development, the Department of Agriculture, and the Parks and Recreation Department. His passion for spatial analysis has only grown over the years and he’s particularly excited about the possibilities and opportunities that AI brings to the future of GIS and its professionals.
